Teryl Gyte
Administrative Assistant
I am currently a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology at the University of Alberta. In a volunteer capacity, I support the Onyx Assessment team with various administrative duties and my aspiration is to become a psychologist in the future. I have experience working with children with disabilities, which has ignited a passion for working with youth and has motivated me to further my education in this field. Following the completion of my undergraduate studies, I plan to pursue a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology and gain competency in formal assessments.
In my leisure time, I engage in various sports, which have been an integral part of my life from a young age. I earned a black belt in Taekwondo by the age of 12 and continued to participate in activities such as dance, basketball, and soccer. During my teenage years, I had the privilege of representing both Team Alberta and Team Canada in team handball, which allowed me to travel internationally and experience diverse cultures, greatly shaping my worldviews. These experiences sparked my interest in psychology, as I observed my teammates during both their successes and challenges and recognized the positive impact that psychologists had on their continuing progress. My goal is to meet the needs that others have to help promote their mental health.
