Jacqueline Gee-Guthrie
Psychometrist
I am a Psychometrist who assists clinicians with completing psychological testing and assessments.
I recently received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Linguistics at the University of Alberta and am currently completing my Certificate in Level B Assessments at Queen’s University.
During my undergraduate degree, I completed an internship working as a psychological assistant at another psychology practice. Here I worked closely with assessment clinicians, their clients, and teachers, acting as the primary point of contact throughout the assessment process and helping to manage case files. My duties also included sending, receiving, and generating various questionnaires, scoring Level B assessment tools, developing psychological resources/templates, data entry, and proofreading final reports.
I recognize the crucial role of assessments in treatment planning and strongly believe in the value of a multidisciplinary support team.
I’ve also been fortunate to work in a position from the treatment side of things as I was previously a behavioral interventionist at the Centre for Autism Services Alberta. As a part of a multidisciplinary team, my role was to carry out the program goals and objectives of my child client’s treatment plan, collecting data, documenting their treatment progress, and creating a positive reinforcement environment.
Working alongside psychologists from an assessment and treatment perspective has provided me insight into the complex journey many of our clients take, as they navigate the assessment process, new diagnosis(‘), and the lifestyle adjustments that can come with it. I hold a lot of respect and love for the team of clinicians, teachers, and family involved in supporting these people through their journeys and wish to offer my support, both in an administrative and psychometry capacity, but also emotionally and humanistically.
During my undergraduate studies, I developed a keen interest in child development, language development, communication disorders, and bilingualism. As a result, next year, I hope to pursue a master’s degree in either speech-language pathology or psychology with a focus on assessments.
