Brittany Norlin
Clinical Director // Registered Psychologist
I am a Registered Psychologist who specializes in Psychological Testing and Assessments for children, youth, and adults.
I hold a Master of Science degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Calgary. Since the completion of my graduate studies, my expertise lies in assessing and addressing the unique needs of children, youth, and adults within educational and clinical settings. I have training, supervision, and expertise conducting psychological assessments in the areas of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Intellectual Disabilities, Specific Learning Disorders, Giftedness, Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, and Trauma-Related Stress Disorders.
Through my work, I also provide customized interventions, and evidence-based strategies to support my client’s success in the classroom and/or workplace. I never rely on a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, I tailor my assessments and recommendations to each individual I met.
I use a collaborative and strength-based approach to help individuals and families understand their unique learning and behavioural profiles.
Collaborating with educators, parents, spouses, and allied health professionals is a cornerstone of my professional practice. I approach this dynamic relationship with a spirit of curiousity, empathy, compassion and a genuine desire to understand and support my client’s unique needs and preferences. Through active listening and effective communication, I establish a strong rapport and build trust, fostering a collaborative partnership. Recognizing the importance of involving families in the assessment process, I actively engage them in all stages of the assessment, ensuring that their voices are heard and valued. By working closely with children and/or adults, and their families, I strive to empower and strengthen the entire family unit, fostering resilience, growth, and well-being.
I am wholeheartedly committed to making a positive impact in the lives of children, youth, and adults, supporting their emotional, social, and academic growth. I work from a strengths-based framework that focuses on harnessing and developing an individual’s existing strengths, rather than dwelling solely on deficiencies and weaknesses. My approach recognizes and values the unique qualities and talents that each person possesses. I strongly believe that by emphasizing and building upon these strengths individuals are empowered to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. Through my work, I find that by recognizing and leveraging strengths, individuals can cultivate a sense of purpose, engagement, and fulfillment in various aspects of their lives including relationships, academic, work and personal growth.
My hope is that my clients become confident in themselves to advocate for their needs while they continue to learn and grow.
In my graduate studies, I conducted research on various topics such as resiliency, positive youth development, growth mindset, and factors that affect decision-making in interpersonal practice. My interests and initiative continue to focus on skill development.
Developing resilience is very important, especially with the individuals I work with. It helps us to overcome obstacles, manage difficult situations, and adapt to changes and challenges as they arise. It also allows us to know when it’s time to advocate for ourselves and make use of the accommodations, resources, and strategies that we put in place. My hope is that by understanding one’s learning profile, they can gain the confidence to know where and when to ask for help in the classroom and/or at work.
Let's identify the problem, get the right support, and move forward.
Let’s work together to develop a customized assessment plan that will help you identify any underlying challenges, access the appropriate support, and walk away with recommendations to help you move forward.
